Science is taught at the ARC as a means of providing students with a varied and stimulating curriculum. The key to success is a variety of activities, which allow increased accessibility to science. We seek to capitalise upon young people’s natural enthusiasm and curiosity, and emphasis is placed upon investigative practical work.
Through a variety of interactive and practical tasks, pupils are able to practice and extend upon a wide range of skills in a non-threatening environment, both inside and outside the classroom. Students are encouraged to contribute their ideas in regards to science and its role in society, both verbally and in written forms.
We are currently following the Activate Science Scheme for Learning at Key Stage 3 to support the new National Curriculum. This is designed to spark student's interest in science from Year 7 and tailored for the new GCSE Science to help them access GCSE.
